Mobile Movement is a social enterprise made up of technologists, development professionals, and filmmakers who want to make sure that marginalized populations are seen and heard.

They make and measure impact in the developing world through storytelling, micro financing, consultation, and business partnerships to create a positive change. Wanting to explore unique options, Mobile Movement tapped Kounterattack’s proven experience in transmedia capabilities to help reach an inventive solution.

Transparency, Accountability and Impact

When measuring impact in the developing world, major challenges include how to achieve a high-level of transparency and accountability. When making an impact, a challenge is involving individuals who potentially have limited or no digital connectivity. Our challenge was to solve the problems of making and measuring impact in a way that humanized the process, bridging both sides of the world to a shared understanding.

Measuring Impact in the Developing World

A story-oriented platform was developed to facilitate a direct relationship between the developed and developing world. Through these relationships and the power of narrative, the audience could measure their impact, which was often in the form of informal mentorship and/or micro-financing. We created web and SMS based solutions to help address the varying levels of connectivity. For those who lacked connectivity entirely, they were empowered with a mobile device.

Overall, by removing the middleman and creating direct relationships between people, thousands of young minds were positively impacted, and the benefits and rewards of those relationships were able to be shared in a transparent manner.

This project was a Cannes MIPCOM Interactive Honoree and received a nomination for a Webby Award.
